Individuality is key to society progressing.

Society progresses the quickest by a person’s idea, thoughts, or beliefs being created. It’s crucial everyone has different thoughts because if a person didn’t have different thoughts there’d be no need for emotion and without emotion there’s no happiness. In the story there were people in anthem that didn’t fully accept their lifestyle and wanted to escape. One of them being the man who cried “help me” every time they went to bed, and the fact that society has a chance to find change because of Prometheus’s/equality’s individual thoughts. Something that shows this is when Prometheus made a light bulb he gave the world a better chance to see and even gain warmth. The reason the man cries is for chance in the emotionless world. They are emotionless because if they all think the same and act the same, they’ll have no conflict and without conflict they will have no need for advancements because nobody would complain. Emotion connects to progressesion because without experiencing a passion you won’t feel a need to live.

Tone Analyses
Zack McQueen
The story Anthem’s tone shows a strong sense of satire. A big thing that shows satire the most is when Prometheus appears at the scholar’s presence and tries to convince them to use the power if electricity which was shown from the box. They disagreed with a comeback of “ And if this should lighten the toil of men, then it is a great evil, for men have no cause to exist save in toiling for other men.” Then pointed at it to say it needs to be destroyed. It’s in satire to say they don’t need it because they do it’ll brighten the brother’s sight and field of vision, but instead they reject it. Each member of your group must write one analysis of a single, agreed upon tone. The group should decide on whether or not the tone changes over the course of the novel. If it does not, write about a single tone. If it does, write about the shift between two tones. Make sure to sign your analysis.
