Individuality is key to society progressing.
by: Aliyah Brooks
Nobodys identity shouldn't be unknown because of lack of knowledge on individuality. The theme "individuality is key to society progressing" is supported by the characters because the characters words show that they cant identify themselves as one. "They were silen, then they spoke slowly, and their words were halting, like the words of a child learning to speak for the first time". In this quote provided by the book explains how they struggled to find who they truly are by identifying themselves as "I" and not "we". At the end of the book they made progressing withing society to find individuality by discovering all these unknown devices and skills in the uncharted forest. Which was difficult to come across becausse their society was lost of knowledge when it came to being different.
The impotence of the collective group.
by: Chelsea Richie
The theme is the importance of the collective group this means that anyone is powerless and dosen't have a mind of their own, which makes them followers thinking and doing things alike that wont get you know where in life. In the novel they made a candle and it took them a 100 years and a whole group of people had to do it together. This shows that when working together as a group not much progress gets done. Since it took them a 100 years to make a candle it shows that they are powerless because it took them a long time.
The value of martyrdom.

Original invention/creation is key to independence.

while dissecting a frog hanging on a copper wire in chapter 3 equality discovered electricity which frightened him. this discovery made him independent and seperate from the rest " so much is still to be learned so long a road lies before use and what care that its not we, its i he has done by himself which was the key we must travel it alone to his independence." this quote shows his newfound independence he has finnally realized, although he does not know the word for it, that its not we its I.

Tone Analyses Each member of your group must write one analysis of a single, agreed upon tone. The group should decide on whether or not the tone changes over the course of the novel. If it does not, write about a single tone. If it does, write about the shift between two tones. Make sure to sign your analysis. By: Aliyah Brooks Ayn Rand's tone is satirical because when Equalitys shows off his nwew creation of light the scholars reacts rejective. "How dared you think that your mind held greater wisdom than the minds of your brothers." What this quote means is that Equality is not worthy enough to have individuality and high expectations of himself because in his society he can't be different than others or he would be breaking the law. This supports my point because it uses irony in which gives the opposite reaction of what should have happened.
