Theme Analyses Each member must submit at least one theme analysis, two of which must be from the following:
Individuality is key to society progressing.
by Kendan Jones
The theme of individuality is the key to society progressing is built by character. Equality’s character shows that when people break up and explore by themselves, they will find new things that will benefit their culture. “We can light our tunnel, and the city, and the cities of the world with nothing save metal and wires.” This example demonstrates that Ayn Rand wants us not to keep within a certain limit of expressing yourself and exploring new and intriguing things. Equality proves my point because he is the one who breaks off from this boring everyday lifestyle, and discovers a new way of lighting darkness for his society. He leaves the city altogether and with him he takes his new found wisdom with him in search for new enlightment.
The impotence of the collective group.
